Supporting Migrant Workers
CENTER FOR LABOUR RESEARCH AND ACTION | Due to the sinking gains from agricultural work, every year, millions of people in India leave their rural homes in order to find work in urban areas. Our project with Centre for Labour Research and Action (CLRA) includes research papers about issues these workers have to face and to enable them to help themselves. The main areas of work are in Western India, namely in the state Gujarat.
CLRA is a split off from the organisation Prayas that we partnered with until the end of 2019. The new organisation will carry on the work with a deeper focus on working with the migrant workers directly. In 2020, CLRA is using the obtained insights from the last researches, mappings and documentations to develop concrete interventions concerning the problems and struggles of the workers. During the last years the project team has developed a good working relationship with the workers which is very important for their upcoming work.
The Centre for Labour Research and Action (CLRA) promotes workers' rights in the vast informal sector economy in India. CLRA primary focuses on research, mapping, capacity building and awareness trainings amongst worker collectives and migrant workers including a wide range of working spaces.
